Steven Wilson has remixed much of Jethro Tull's back catalogue, and Aqualung in particular was an album that cried out for a remix. Wilson knew the original well and remembered how muddy and hissy it was, with some weird frequency issues going on. Popular opinion seems to agree with his own view that his remix fixed many of those sonic problems.

Feb 12,  · Differing from the other Steven Wilsons Remixes, I prefer the earlier Digital Remaster to his version. For some reason the sound stage has become unclear and the bass lines lost structure and clarity on this recording. Pity, as Stand up is my favorite classic Tull album/5(22).

Stand Up is the second studio album by the British rock band Jethro Tull, released in Before recordings for the album began, the band's original guitarist Mick Abrahams resigned because of musical differences with Ian Anderson; Abrahams wanted to stay with the blues rock sound of their debut, This Was, while Anderson wished to add other musical influences such as folk Hard rock, folk rock, blues rock, progressive rock.

Jan 05,  · The new Steven Wilson stereo remix of Jethro Tull‘s Stand Up, which was debuted in last year’s ‘Elevated Edition‘ of the album, will be available separately as an individual vinyl and CD release in February. The vinyl edition contains just the ten-track album, while the CD version adds some bonus ‘associated recordings’, including the non-album single Living In The Past.

It also includes a page booklet featuring track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, an extensive history of the album, rare and unseen photographs and a reproduction of the original pop-up book artwork designed by James Grashow. Jul 28,  · I have played Steven Wilson's remix of Aqualung (in 16/ stereo only) several times. I can see how it is well liked. So far, it sounds a little off to me. Kind of clinical - cleaned up/changed to the point of losing some of what I have enjoyed about Aqualung in the past.
