    Backed by the Louisiana Red Hots, Chenier's smooth accordion playing changes the mood of each different song. Chenier's solo on "Richest Man", one of the slower songs, is very impressive and original. Quickly became my favorite Zydeco album, and I bet it will become one of yours, too/5(7).

    C. J. Chenier (born Clayton Joseph Thompson, September 28, , Port Arthur, Texas, is the Creole son of the Grammy Award winning "King of Zydeco", Louisiana musician, Clifton Chenier. In , Chenier followed in his father's footsteps, and led his father's band as an accordion performer of Zydeco, a blend of Cajun and Creole music.

    When Clifton died in his son, C.J., adopted the Red Hot Louisiana Band and recorded his debut album for the great American independent label Arhoolie Records. Chenier (along with Ringo Starr) was hand-picked by Paul Simon for his Rhythm of the Saints album. The album was nominated for Album of the Year and Producer of the Year.

    Landreth first played in Clifton Chenier's Red Hot Louisiana Band, as the only white member of the band. In , he released his first record, Blues Attack, which also featured C.J. Chenier on saxophone and Mel Melton on harmonica. In , Landreth and Melton formed the band Bayou Rhythm, and eventually added C.J. Chenier to the lineup.
